- Russian Gulch State Park Rugged headlands thrust out into the blue Pacific. One of the many features of the7,630 feet of ocean frontage is the "blow hole." Its formation was made by the incessant pounding of waves against the coastal headlands. A tunnel has been formed which comes inland about 200 feet and at its end the earth has caved away forming a hole 100 feet across and 60 feet deep; one can look into this flower and plant-lined pit and watch the surging sea at high tide.
- The Mendocino Bay Overlook This little meadow sticking out above the Pacific Ocean is one of the most amazing acres in the world. Providing a breathtaking panoramic view the historic town of Mendocino Village, the mouth of Big River and the Pacific. This one of a kind setting feels both intimate and wild, but still within view of the picturesque village.

- Mendocino Headlands State Park is home to Big River Beach and incredible ocean bluffs.
- Van Damme Beach has a little bit of everything for the lover of nature's beauty. The ten miles of lush Fern Canyon trails weave from beach through the Pygmy Forest where mature, cone-bearing cypress and pine trees stand six to eight feet tall.
