
Celebrate the whales of California on the Mendocino coast each of the first three weekends in March!
The first Whale Festival kicks off in the village of Mendocino on Saturday March 3. Vote for your favorite chowder – from the traditional to not-so-traditional – at Crown Hall from 11AM to 1PM (or until the chowder runs out!). Just $10 lets you taste through all the chowders from local restaurants. If the chowder leaves you thirsty, taste through the awesome brews on tap from North Coast Brewing Company – just $5 per ticket. You can also get s complimentary taste of their North Coast Steller IPA!
Take the show around the village to shops and other locations where a dozen or more Mendocino County wineries will be pouring their finest. $35 in advance/$40 day of; ticket price gains you a Mendocino Whale Festival commemorative glass. Check out the “Whale Tales” Exhibit at the Ford House Visitor’s Center, featuring bones from a Gray Whale, information regarding the gray whales’ migration, and an interactive exhibit that lets you quiz yourself on whale facts. Or participate in a docent-led whale watch walk scheduled each day of the festival and continuing throughout the month.
