Historic Walking Tours of Ridgewood Ranch. Visit the special place that Seabiscuit called home…the depression era hero that captured the imagination of an entire nation.

All tours are docent-led and available by reservation. You will experience the charm of this historic ranch and learn about the home of the legendary Seabiscuit. Historic walking tours are availablet hrough September 22th, 2018, every Saturday at 9:00 AM, except when events are scheduled.

Seabiscuit (1933-1947) was a champion thoroughbred racehorse who became the top money winning racehorse up to the 1940s. He beat the 1937 Triple-Crown winner, War Admiral, by 4 lengths in a 2-horse special at Pimlico and was voted American Horse of the Year for 1938.

A small horse, Seabiscuit had an inauspicious start to his racing career, winning only a fourth of his first 40 races, but became an unlikely champion and a symbol of hope to many Americans during the Great Depression. Seabiscuit has been the subject of numerous books and films through the years. A true hero!

CONGRATULATIONS to Tim and Jacqueline Cooper of Ridgewood Ranch, who welcomed the FIRST THOROUGHBRED descendant of Seabiscuit to be born at Ridgewood Ranch in 70 years. River, a bay filly, was born May 11, 2018 out of Bronze Sea and is by 2009 Santa Anita Handicap winner, Einstein.

The descendants of Seabiscuit are part of the Lil'Biscuit breeding program and are available for viewing by reservation during guided historic walking tours June - September.
