Ride a railbike on the Skunk!

Have you done this yet? What a great way to ride the rails! Skunk Train’s railbikes are a huge hit so far! They’ve had dozens of riders, and the feedback has been great!

Here are some specifics: The ride is seven miles roundtrip, and takes a bit less than one hour for most riders. The trip runs between our Pudding Creek Express rides, so there is no chance of meeting another train on the tracks. The railbikes are fairly lightweight, so you can turn them around at the historic Glen Blair. The railbikes have an electric motor assist, to help you going up the slight incline on the return trip (or just if you want to relax a bit more). The trip costs $79 for a bike (which holds two people). It is suitable for children accompanied by an adult. Although the train rides are dog-friendly, the railbikes are not equipped for dogs.

Skunk Train folks say they have never seen a bear or mountain lion on this stretch of track; however, you might see osprey, blue herons and of course majestic redwood groves along the way. They run multiple trips most days, departing from Fort Bragg, between their Pudding Creek Express trips.
